What does 2012 have in store for you?
Perhaps you have made a new year’s resolution to start writing or to read more or even to take more time out to unwind – here at the Library we feel that we have the perfect venue to help you achieve all of these aims.
For Gladstone’s Library we are eagerly awaiting our first Writer-in-Residence, Naomi Alderman, in March. She has recently been involved with writing a story for a Zombies game which has been designed to encourage fitness.
The game called “Zombies, Run” puts the phone user at the heart of a disaster where their only way out of it is to physically run. As the person runs he/she will hear more of the story through their headphones and become involved in collecting supplies and completing missions.
Naomi Alderman and our other Writers-In-Residence (Stella Duffy, Ian Parks and Nadene Ghouri) will be speaking at a number of events during their time at the Library. We hope that you will be able to join us for these.
how interesting to see the changes at the Library.
I stayed there 3 times, the first time about 42yrs ago (not that I can believe it to be such a long time, when Michael Burgess was in resdence (we are friends to this day!)I was a Miss Cairns then.
It was a joy to stay there and those were times I shall never forget. I met many wonderful people.
I am so glad that you are still open and, perhaps, one day I might return.
