St Deiniol's announces new facilities

Thanks to the Gladstone Project, which was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Cadw (the historic environment agency of the Welsh Assembly), charitable trusts and private donations, St Deiniol's Library has been able to upgrade existing facilities and add new ones to its portfolio.

St Deiniol's successfully raised £1.2 million to fund the Project which addressed the need to provide for the growth of the collection, more space and better access for our users and essential repairs to the historic fabric.

Conference Room 2

More space

A small extension to the rear of the main building has provided additional space and, more significantly, allowed for existing space to be re-organised. There is now a new Chapel and a state-of-the-art conference room for up to forty delegates. We have also refurbished the restaurant/coffee shop and kitchen now catering for up to sixty people.

Twin Room

Better access

Two fully accessible en-suite ground-floor bedrooms have been created and the approach to the building has been made easier. There is level travel throughout the building and toilet facilities have been installed on the ground floor.

Care of the collections

The re-development of our periodicals library will accommodate the foreseen growth in holdings for the next twenty years. The building has been refurbished and new mobile shelving has been installed.

The Gladstone Project has provided the essential physical infrastructure for the Library’s ever widening audience, its growing range of activities, and its important role as a venue for local events and a meeting place for the local community.
