The Bible, illustrated

We also have a version of the KJB from 1719 which has not only an engraved title page but also the Book of Common Prayer. Within this there is a prayer of thanksgiving for the survival of King James I in regards to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The following illustration accompanies it, with a reference to various Psalms. Although the illustrator may have been wishing to emphasise the omnipotence of God and his punishment of the wicked the illustration does have a more comic look to it than might have been desired.
